After five years trading at a previous site, Syrupp salon moved to the affluent village of Buckden, Cambridgeshire, when a picture-perfect prime location became available.
Previously a boutique dress shop, salon owner Helen Akred and her daughter, Rebecca, worked together with the Aston & Fincher design team to create a sophisticated unisex salon with plenty of quirky features.
"The salon design had to fit the image of the business," says Helen. "Both the premises and location do this perfectly, so the interior had to match. My vision was for it to be very chic."
Originally inspired by a French furniture company, the design solidified when Helen discovered the Pip collection of wallpaper from designer Brian Yates. "Finding the paper helped everything else fall into place," she says.
Eclectic touches include reclaimed vintage features and an old range in the back room, which still works and was used to warm mince pies for clients over the Christmas period. Further attention to detail comes in the form of bespoke chair covers in colourful fabrics and a statement clock featuring assorted teacups - a talking point among clients, and a perfect match for the crockery used to serve refreshments.
"The most important part of our decision to move was designing an environment of style and comfort," Helen explains. "But it was also imperative to create a bright and happy place to work." A brief which this bright and beautiful interior fulfils with style.
