A survey of 2,000 UK participants has found that music is the answer when it comes to boosting hair salon profits.

Commisioned by MusicWorks, the survey found that almost a third of people who like to hear music in a hair and beauty salon say they would be prepared to pay five per cent more for products or services if the salon played music they liked.

The study also revealed that clients are more likely to return on a regular basis to an environment that they find welcoming and relaxing:

  • 81% of customers that visited salons said that they would like to hear music

Of those 1620 people:

  • 77% said that a salon playing good music is much more inviting
  • 73% agreed a salon playing good music is a trendy salon
  • 61% said they are more likely to return to that salon playing music
