Superdrug launches barber offering as part of new beauty studio

High street health and beauty chain Superdrug is launching a new store format with male grooming treatments and a professional barbers on a dedicated Beauty Studio floor. The first of the new Beauty Studios opens in Leicester’s Fosse Park store and will offer a Superdrug Barber shop, amongst other services. The men’s grooming station will provide wet and dry shaves, as well as men’s hairstyling and colour treatments. The team have been trained by Wahl with services starting at £8 for a beard trim. The new concept will also have a hair salon, nail bar, waxing treatments, spray tanning and piercing. Each area will be manned by fully trained therapists who will be specially recruited for the Beauty Studio. Superdrug already shapes over a million brows a year in its existing network of over 200 Brow & Lash Bars and this new beauty service offering will take a head to toe approach with option to purchase packages for a full makeover. The Hair Salon will offer a menu of services, including styling, cuts and colour from the TIGI-trained team. Prices start at £15 for a cut and £60 for a full head of highlights. Superdrug's sales operations director Jerry Walkling said: “Our Brow & Lash Bars have been a huge success and the launch of our new Beauty Studio format takes this fast accessible beauty approach to the next level." He added: “We’ve taken our Fosse Park store which opened last year to create this new beauty services format on the mezzanine area. We’re incredibly excited about the opportunities this enhanced service menu will give customers who come into the store as they can have a true Superdrug head-to-toe makeover.” Superdrug currently offers Orly Nail Bars in 63 stores, Brow & Lash bars in 282 stores and Waxing in nine stores. The retailer plans to open more Beauty Studio stores with a full beauty and grooming approach planned for the future.
