As the weather changes your clients will no doubt be looking for a change themselves to bring their colour bang into the autumn/winter season, just look at Gigi Hadid's subtle colour switch up this September. For your clients that opted for a lighter hue this summer we spoke to Grace Dalgleish of Brooks and Brooks about the best blonde looks for autumn...
Create bespoke colour fo your clients
As much as your client might want a super platinum blonde we all know that not possible on all hair. "As the expert, it’s the colourists job to manage expectations and create a bespoke shade of blonde, tailor-made for the client," says Grace.
Blend for a more autumnal look
To take blondes into a richer autumnal look Grace recommends blending through deeper ashy shades at the root that gets lighter and warmer towards the ends - "This will take a client’s summer blondes into the new season. It'll making them feel more edgy and current.
Get creative with placement
"Chunky placement is key to making blondes stand out, using darker and lighter tones to create dimension and texture and creating hair that looks bright but never brassy," says Grace.
Care is key
Colour is nothing if you don't look after it. For blondes it's especially key as the lighter tone reflects light making it harder to impart shine. "Don’t forget to recommend adding in a re-bonding treatment to the colour," advises Grace. "This will add moisture, extra shine and ensure longevity."
Advise on aftercare
"To make sure your clients maintain their on-trend new shade, suggest a toning shampoo as part of their weekly routine," Grace recommends. "L’Oréal Professionnel Serie Expert Silver Shampoo is awesome for keeping those yellow tones at bay. You could also suggest they pop in in between colour service for a varnish gloss to replenish their locks and bring that colour back to life."
