Step up and shine scholarship launches at salon international Step up and shine scholarship launches 2024 A year of quality bespoke education and mentoring at no cost? It could be you as the Step Up and Shine Scholarship launches today at Salon International. The Fellowship for British Hairdressing and The National Hairdressers’ Federation have once again teamed up to offer one lucky stylist an exciting bespoke education package, in the name of industry legend Christofer Mann. The search for a recipient launches today on the Fellowship stage at Salon International. The lucky winner of the competition will once again be a UK hairdresser who has a passion for education and a genuine desire to learn and improve their skills. No experience is necessary, just enthusiasm to learn. The selected individual will receive a bespoke education package worth £2,500, valid for one year, (including expenses), a Mentor Meeting and ongoing support to help plan and activate their education year. "This is such an exciting initiative," says stylist and trainer Debbie G, Step-Up & SHINE mentor for the second year. "Christofer was a huge supporter of grass-roots hairdressing and believed wholeheartedly in the concept of education for all. It sums up Christofer’s ethos and sits right at the heart of what both the NHF and The Fellowship regard as fundamentally important." In its first year – due to the quality of the entries - the Scholarship was awarded to not one, but two youngsters, Hannah Pettinger from NJUK Beautiful Hair, Chesterfield and Ollie Vines from Heaven Hair, Salisbury. “Both were amazing and I’ve had so much pleasure in mentoring them and seeing them benefit so much from the experience. I can’t wait to meet the latest recipient…” Debbie The competition to select the 2015 candidate kicks off at Salon International. Anyone interested in applying (or wishing to nominate a colleague or friend) is asked to record a one-minute video on a smart phone or recording device explaining why they love hairdressing and why they would be a great candidate to receive the scholarship. The video should be uploaded to the NHF website. Deadline date is 31st January 2015 • For further information please contact Victoria Priestley at The National Hairdressers’ Federation on 01234 834386 / [email protected]
