Encourage your clients to shake up their style for the new season with Aveda's Twist Cut.
Created by Global Creative Director, Antoinette Beenders, the twist cut embraces natural-looking hair, creating an imperfect texture by applying a simple twisting technique when cutting, leaving ends looking raw and undone.
Coupled with a chunky, sultry fringe and length just skimming the shoulders, this new cut is versatile and suits almost every face shape.
“Natural hair is making a comeback, and I think we’re ready for it, twisting sections before slide-cutting downward enhances the hair’s natural texture and keeps it from looking overly polished.”
Antoinette Beenders, Aveda Global Creative Director
The Technique
Starting at the nape, chunky sections are taken at random and twisted before slice-cutting downward – leaving an imperfect and raw finish.
The Styling
- From damp hair, the natural texture is enhanced using Be Curly Style Prep from mid-lengths to ends.
- Spritz Thickening Tonic is applied to the roots and mid-lengths to increase the chunky feel.
- Then, large sections are twisted and left to air-dry. Alternatively, tip head forward and use a diffuser and dry hair upside down until 90% dry and then flip head back and leave the rest to naturally dry.
