With festival season well and truly here we can't get enough of beach babe braids. Fishtail braids are a great way to keep hair secure whilst keeping that perfectly undone, boho twist. We spoke to Alison Stewart from Alison Stewart Hairdressing for her tips on getting the perfect fishtail braid.
- Start with dry hair. If your hair is resistant to curl, add a spray gel or a lightweight mousse for volume, texture and hold.
- Scrape hair back into a high ponytail, securing in place with an elastic band or hair bobble.
- Next, take the hair from the top half of the ponytail and tease at the root area with a backcombing brush. This will hold the teasing and give you volume.
- Fishtail braid your ponytail. Continue the braid until you’re left with only a couple of inches of hair. Secure the ends with an elastic.
- To create an oversized messy fishtail braid, gently tug at the sections to loosen the braid. Just don't pull the hair out completely!
- Finish this look off by using a firm-hold hairspray to keep the look in place.
