Here are the stars that wear it well - with a few thoughts from the pros.

Jennifer Lopez
"J.Lo has gorgeous, thick, healthy hair and this full style works well for her hair type. It's boosted further by the different tones of colour that help create more dimension to the overall look, but she should try for a smoother finish through the parting area to create more length to her face. As it is, the width over the temple area suggests a roundness that could be avoided."
Michelle McLaughlin, Byron Hairdressing, Kirkcaldy
Elle Macpherson
"Elle's look is super glam - a style she sports most days. For the rest of us, it's the perfect choice for special occasions as it's flattering and feminine, but also looks quite natural. In terms of her colour, this is a development of the ombré look; the hair is highlighted around the hairline and the top section left closer to her natural colour, which means less re-growth."
Ryan Edwards, Voodou Bold Street, Liverpool

Rihanna
"Big hair is big business right now and can be worn many ways. To achieve Rihanna's volumised waves, prep towel-dried hair with mousse, take sections of hair, curl from the roots upwards and blow-dry using a large ceramic brush. Once dry, remove the brush and apply styling powder to the roots. Turn the head upside down and shake the curls out for amazing root lift and a style that will keep its volume all night."
Guy Rowles, John Carne Hairdressing, Guildford
Cheryl Cole
"This style definitely acknowledges the all-American look, with Cheryl turning up the volume more than usual. Although this look nods towards this season's 1970's glamour trend, I feel there may be just a little too much volume for Cheryl's petite features. Depending on the hair's natural texture, this style can be created using a medium or large ceramic round brush for that Hollywood blow-dry effect. For hair which is naturally straighter, heated rollers will give longer lasting bounce."
