Stark: mastering the french boudoir style

Published 12th Jun 2009 by sophieh

Chic, but definitely not shabby, Stark is the French boudoir-style salon of hairdresser Matthew Stark that stylishly blends old with new.

The décor of white, black and gold, is enhanced by eye-catching pieces, such as the huge antique grandfather clock and magnificent 30s crystal chandelier, while the bespoke, chest-high, curved reception desk, in white studded leather creates a wow-factor as clients enter the salon.

"I was adamant I didn't want a minimalist look," says Matthew. "The surrounding area is so tranquil; I wanted to replicate this feeling within the salon - creating a light, airy and sophisticated space that was inviting for every age group."
