Spa london, public sector day spa

I was privileged to be one of the first visitors to Spa London, the UK's first public sector day spa, located in the heart of London's East End. A joint venture between Tower Hamlets Council and Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL) -- a non profit society, it aims to offer a first-rate spa package at an affordable price.Sited within York Hall -- Tower Hamlets' historic Victorian baths, this amazing spa is spread over 860sq m, and mixes state-of-the art facilities with original features of the building. At its heart is the thermal spa experience -- six fabulous chambers each housing a different heat treatment. Visitors can relax in the traditional Turkish bath, invigorate under Kneipp hoses, or take time out in the sauna and two aroma steam rooms. There is a plunge pool, ice fountain and aroma-infused monsoon showers, as well as four treatment rooms and a wet room with original 1920's marble slab table. But the most astonishing thing about this haven is the price. While therapies taken in the four treatment rooms are offered at prices not far below those of other spas, visitors can hang-out in the heat facilities for a fabulous three-hour experience at heavily subsidised prices (non-members £20, with concessions from £6!) -- now that's what I call great value and sure to promote the spa concept to a wider audience.
