Sophisticated trends at the oscars

At the 82nd Oscars, the red carpet was awash with diamonds, chiffon and lace. And while the dresses oozed Hollywood glamour, so did the hair. There were two main trends  - waves draped over one shoulder and smooth sleek updos, with the dressed do taking the number one spot for versatility as well as popularity.

With simple necklines many stars had hair gathered at the nape, with styles that were both feminine and elegant, and ranged from uber-glamorous to more laid back and pretty. However, despite her status as style queen, Sex & the City star Sarah Jessica Parker showed how not to wear an updo with natural hair scraped back a la Croydon facelift and an oversized mismatched hair piece added at the back. With a dress that didn't fit and a colour that drained her skin tone, she undisputedly took the award for worst dressed!
