'Normal is boring' was the message at a recent Evening of Colour with Sophia Hilton from Brooks and Brooks at the L'Oreal International Academy in London.
As the current winner of both the
L'Oréal Colour Trophy and
HJ's British Hairdresser Newcomer of the Year, Sophia was invited by L'Oréal Professionnel to talk though her hairdressing career and showcase some of her winning work and latest ideas.
In a space set up to resemble an artist's studio, Sophia displayed her inspiration sketches and palettes before presenting a host of models.
"My dad taught me not to be a sheep, and that normal is boring;" she began. "And my mum wanted everything to be beautiful, so everything I do is a mixture between beautiful and weird."
On where she gets her creative ideas Sophia added: "I love fashion, but I don’t copy it. I don’t look at high fashion for inspiration – I look to the street and the Never Never Land of Japan's Harajuku district."
Then it was time to showcase the results of Sophia's creativity, with models representing her winning Colour Tropht Look, L'Oreal Professionnel HairChalks and wigs.
Sophia will now go on to join L'Oreal Professionnel on the Colour Trophy Regional Tour, sitting alongside some of the hairdressing industry’s most iconic names.
