Skyler mcdonald hosts ghd workshop

Skyler McDonald, award winning hairdresser and creative director for seanhanna, hosted a Session Styling Secrets training course recently at the GHD London studio. The course was designed to cater for intermediate to advanced salon and hair professionals wanting to expand on their knowledge, their creative ability and to also learn how to adapt basic/simple hair structures to achieve an avant garde/show hair style. The importance of prepping, shaping and creating was showcased by Skyler alongside demonstrations on the best ways to utilise these styles for television, advertising and campaigns.The tricky techniques, the ‘How the hell do you do that’ types, were broken down, explained, demonstrated and put to the test in this interactive workshop. Speaking about the workshop and what it entailed Skyler said “The workshop is really important for stylists wanting to keep on trend and recreate the looks they see in mainstream media and on the catwalk. This workshop showed them how to achieve these looks, but also how to adapt them to become more consumer friendly so they could practice the styles in the salon on clients” Up-dos, bridal styling, braiding and balancing shape to keep consistency were a major focal point throughout the session. Exploring the techniques of incorporating materials into the hair to achieve an avant garde mainstream style gave a harmonious balance between achievable hair and extreme show looks.
