Should we ban the bristles - or bring back the beard?

Brad Pitt.jpgBeards are definitely back in vogue - although with varying degrees of success. Personally I'm not a fan of straggly, unkempt facial hair. I think it adds years and lacks sophistication. Brad Pitt is a good (or bad) example of this. He's obviously trying to give his trademark babyface look a more mature edge, but has ended up looking a bit of a bum - and an old bum, at that.

Johnny Depp, on the other hand, has created that air of sophistication with his smart, groomed goatie. But then, is there a look Johnny can't pull off.

Johnny Depp.jpgIn contrast, Little Leonardo Dicaprio just can't seem to grow up no matter what he does with his facial hair. He's stuck in that Leonardo DiCaprio.jpgno-man's land between teen idol and middle-age, and it really doesn't suit him - and the beard doesn't do anything to help the situation.

And as for Jaoquin Phoenix...well, Jaoquin Phoenix.jpgsome targets are just too easy!
