Should we ban the bristles - or bring back the beard?

Beards are definitely back in vogue - although with varying degrees of success. Personally I'm not a fan of straggly, unkempt facial hair. I think it adds years and lacks sophistication. Brad Pitt is a good (or bad) example of this. He's obviously trying to give his trademark babyface look a more mature edge, but has ended up looking a bit of a bum - and an old bum, at that.

Johnny Depp, on the other hand, has created that air of sophistication with his smart, groomed goatie. But then, is there a look Johnny can't pull off.

In contrast, Little Leonardo Dicaprio just can't seem to grow up no matter what he does with his facial hair. He's stuck in that no-man's land between teen idol and middle-age, and it really doesn't suit him - and the beard doesn't do anything to help the situation.

And as for Jaoquin Phoenix...well, some targets are just too easy!
