Dan Spiller of Marc Antoni won Newcomer of the Year at the 2010 British Hairdressing Awards, and the above image was part of his winning collection.
We spoke to the people responsible for the image to find out what went into creating it:
Hair stylist
"I absolutely love the way that this model understood our brief for the shoot. It was all about long, beautiful hair, but it was important for me to have an 'edge' to each individual shot, adding strength to the overall look."
Dan Spiller, Marc Antoni, Fleet, Hampshire
Photographer
"We shot this image in both colour, and black and white. The model was incredibly photogenic, and all the elements worked well together. For me, this shot ticks all the boxes - its content is exacting."
Andrew O'Toole
Make-up artist
"Dan is a young and energetic hairdresser with strong ideas on hair, fashion and beauty. His brief was complementary, and worked with all the models we used throughout an enjoyable day."
Victoria Baron
And once you've got a beautiful shot, the possibilities are endless. This image has been a success in the glossy consumer mags too. Here's what a top magazine editor had to say:
Journalist
"This image is beautifully undone. It's shot simply against a clean backdrop with stunning curved lines and natural shapes that contrast well with the slightly avant-garde hairstyling. It's a stunning hair shot, but it could easily translate to a high-fashion of beauty editorial too."
