The Schwarzkopf Young Artistic Team 2011 has been announced after a tough day's deliberation at the ASK Academy in London.

A total of 43 young hopefuls were put through their paces in front of a panel of judges, comprising leading industry journalists, editors and photographers.

Entrants between 18 and 24 were given one hour to create a complete look on a pre-coloured model, with marks awarded for cut, finish, make-up and styling as well as presentation, technique and inspiration.

Eight lucky hairdressers will now enjoy a whole year of experiences including mentoring and training from some of Schwarzkopf's top educators, an opportunity to create their own collection and chances to assist and appear on stage.

Kay Brady, Key Account Technical Adviser says: "YAT attracted a record number of applications this year. It was wonderful to see young talent from all over the country put their all into their entry.

They worked so hard and for many it was their first experience of presenting, which was nerve wracking to say the least. The judges gave their undivided attention to ensuring that we have chosen those that have the skills and the commitment to take on the YAT challenge. It's going to be an exciting year ahead!"
