Schwarzkopf professional seeks volunteers for shaping futures 2020 Schwarzkopf Professional is appealing to ambitious hairdressers with a passion for the industry to volunteer for Shaping Futures annual charity initiative. This includes a training program that gives young people from developing countries the chance to learn the skill of hairdressing. Over the course of six weeks, a group of volunteers will visit a SOS Children’s Village in the Philippines to teach young people a new trade and provide them the skills to build a sustainable career. The initiative was born from a small Japanese project with Cambodian street children in 2008, since then Shaping Futures evolved into a global initiative in 2010 when Schwarzkopf Professional partnered with SOS Children’s Villages. The Shaping Futures initiative is supported by the Fritz Henkel foundation, which aims to empower disadvantaged young people by giving them the tools and confidence to create a better future for themselves. Hairdressers who are interested in volunteering are invited to attend an introductory event, where they can learn about the initiative and sign up as a volunteer. The first formal session will take place on 20 January in Manchester, followed by another on 27 January in London. Kay Brady, national PPS manager UK & IRE for Schwarzkopf Professional said, “Becoming a Shaping Futures volunteer is a fantastic opportunity for skilled hairdressers who want to give back and make a real difference to people’s lives. We are incredibly proud of all the people involved, but especially the young people who fight every day to create their own futures; they are inspirations to us all.”
