The historic city of Prague may have been suffering its coldest winter for 50 years, but that didn't stop hairdressers from around the world celebrating the launch of Schwarzkopf Professional's Essential Looks Spring/Summer 2012 collection, Flux.

The Essential Looks World Tour stopped off at the Prumyslovy Palac in the European city which was transformed from industrial to inspirational, as more than 1,400 stylists and press from 39 countries witnessed the unveiling of the four new trends.

Hosted by creative director for Schwarzkopf Professional Essential Looks Steve Hogan, the show kicked off with an energetic routine by groomed dancers, much to the delight of the international audience.

While each trend in the Flux collection was revealed - Cool Hunters, Sports Junkies, Dark Angels and Hip Opulents -  global ambassador Tyler Johnson created a variety of looks live on stage, while global amassador Lesley Lawson talked about the shapes and colours.

"This collection is driven by what we see on the catwalks," explained Tyler.

"We bring together a collection of all the key trends from London, Paris, New York and Milan and merge them together to inspire us for the Essential Looks collection."

Steve added: "It's important to keep it simple but stunning. It's great to be able to create avant garde styles but hair needs to be fashion-inspired and real for clients."

Cool Hunters

Cool-Hunters-main.jpgThe ultimate 21st century tribe these entrepreneurial revolutionaries have torn up the rulebook and shunned the conventional 9-5. Their nomadic spirit means they hunt out autheticity and are lured by diverse cultural looks. Stylists translated the trend into cuts that were rich in cultural references and boundary pushing attitude. From sleek precision bobs to attitudinal feather cuts and bold statement colour, it displays Cool Hunters fierce passion for fashion..

Dark Angels

Dark-Angel-main.jpgSultry, sensual, exotic, this trend appeals to women whose innate confidence and powerful good looks combine to give them a magnetic appeal. Ultra feminine and powerfully seductive they wear Dolce & Gabbana's sultry corsetry or Louis Vuitton's expensive lace dresses. They exude subtle sex appeal that translates to luxe, perfectly glossy hair with peekaboo fringes and rich ultra natural colour.

Hip Opulants

Hip-Opulent.jpgThis pleasure-seeking crowd live hard and fast and want to see and be seen. Their wardrobe reflects their love of glamour with high-octane show-stopping looks that mix wild prints with eyepopping colour and a dash of sparkle. But just as modern shapes stop their pieces looking too trashy or flashy, the sharp, clean cuts stop screen siren blonde and ecadent golden reds looking too obvious.

Sports Junkies

Sport-Junkies.jpgClean lines, neon colours and hi-tech fabrics ruled and represented a new emerging breed of hip adrenalin junkies who crave the ultimate endorphin rush. Stylists seized this feeling adn created clean, powerful and minimalist looks that simmered with vitality. Clever styles with ability to shape shirt were key, as was a deceptively simple polish.
