Sassoon launch androgyne at salon live

Sassoon marked 60 years since their formation with a celebration of their stunning new collection, Androgyne, at Salon Live at Salon International.

Sassoon Live Show

Embracing the current fascination with 'gender neutral', Androgyne takes inspiration from the 1920s when women used tuxedos to create a more masculine silhouette, and then late 60s and early 70s when male rock stars wore free-flowing locks for a more unisex look.

Kicking off the show, Colour Director Peter Dawson, UK Colour Director Edward Darley and the international colour team showcased the art of chromotology applied with shape and balance to produce couture colour for the collection.

Next, International Creative Director, Mark Hayes, UK Creative Director, Bruce Mayes and the Sassoon Creative Team showcased the three distinct themes of the collection.

Morocco, the most classically Sassoon look, features very sleek bobs and geometric cuts complemented in shades of deep black and reds. One stand out crop  was accessorised with a halo of red roses for a dramatic finish and Mark explained: "The clean and sleek shapes really lend themselves to being worn with accessories."

Street Urchins pays tribute to the work of John Galliano with cute, choppy, boyish hairstyles; while longer hairstyles are much more layered, loose and playful. Worn with a palette of neutral shades in sandy beige with smoky tones peeking through the fringe areas, these represent the street style aspect of the collection where soft looks have a cool edge.

Finally, the classically beautiful Fallen Angels applies a palette of white shades, from linen to limestone, cuts range from short to mid-length styles, and models were adorned with spiritual symbols.

This was a collection about quirky beauty, true to the classic Sassoon style, but with a bohemian edge and as Mark Hayes explained, there is a look that can be personalised to suit every client.
