Sassoon academy stuns with "off-kilter" collection

Sassoon-Live.jpgSassoon Academy, presented by Sassoon Professional, delivered the anticipated mix of stunning looks created using precision cutting and perfect colour placement - but this year there seemed was more focus on texture, with the latest collection, Da Da Dolls delivering a real wow factor, with hair that combined the trademark sleek bobs, with "off-kilter" heavily textured hair.

Sassoon international creative director, Mark Hayes described the looks as 'three dimensional'.

"It's so refreshing to see all these amazing textures," he told the enraptured audience, "I love the idea of sculpting hair."

Sassoon-Live2.jpgMany of the looks were created using traditional stack perming techniques on one side of the head and tight scissor-over-comb cutting on the other. "It's about performance and drama in the overall shape," said Mark.

The show also re-introduced the Academy's two earlier 2009 collections, the 80s inspired, Laser, and La Baiser, which takes inspiration from the couture of the 1940s and 50s.

With cutting and colour demonstrations, dazzling catwalk shows, encompassing all three collections, and words of advice from some of the top names in the industry, including Edward Darley and Bruce Masefield, the show offered texture in every sense of the word.
