The team from Ego Hair Design were overjoyed to be announced as finalists in four categories at HJ's British Hairdressing Business Awards, but getting the team from Inverness to London looked set to be a costly experience.
Salon director Caroline Sanderson put her thinking cap on and, demonstrating the problem-solving skills that helped her make shortlist for Director of the Year, quickly came up with a solution; the company would put up half the money for flights and accommodation if the team could raise the rest.
The team responded with a Super Sunday Fun Day; working on their precious day off to provide not just cuts and colours but also family-friendly treats including a tan-a-thon, makeovers and nail services, a BBQ and an auction.
The day was a complete success and the team raised more than £1,500.
Caroline said: "The girls really pulled together as a team and rose to the challenge. Putting all monies raised on the Sunday to the event meant I needed to make sure our normal opening hours were full so the money raised from the funday was extra revenue. I am happy to say it worked and now the team feel they have well and truly earned their place attending
HJ's British Hairdressing Business Awards."
