Sally Adams' salon and spa in Cobham is as impressive as it is noticeable. With dual frontage and a prominent location in the affluent Surrey village, Sally's salon is stylishly eye-catching.

Having originally opened in July 2007, the salon has recently undergone a complete makeover - without any inconvenience to clients, as meticulous planning and scheduling of works meant the salon was only closed for a week.

"We decided to refit to provide a more functional workspace, a larger technical area and to freshen up the look for our clients," says Sally Adams' partner and salon co-owner, Adam Powell. "We are a high-end, quality, customer-focused business with a discerning clientele - those clients are our business and deserve a salon to match their expectations. The salon is designed to convey comfort, enjoyment and wellbeing."

Sally Adams is an Aveda Lifestyle salon, although as an independent salon it is up to the owners to harmonise with Aveda's ethos (the science of longevity) - Sally and Adam share a sense of the brand's Ayurvedic tranquillity.

"Along with Aveda, Adam and I have strong environmental beliefs," says Sally. "We believe in treating each other and the environment with care and respect. We believe our experienced staff and Aveda's ethical point of difference set us apart. The salon is designed to appeal to those who appreciate quality, integrity and professionalism."

Is the salon split into separate areas?
The redesign ensures an efficient and practical use of space, as well as an aesthetically balanced decorative flow. On the ground floor, the salon has three distinct areas: the front is for styling, the middle houses super-luxurious reclining Takara Belmont backwashes and the rear provides the technical section for colour work. The first floor is home to two treatment rooms and a manicure/pedicure area.

Tell us about the reception area.
The salon's welcoming reception features a hand-crafted oak desk, comfortable Barcelona guest chairs and an Aveda retail zone, stylishly designed in rolled steel and oak, with backlit glass shelving displaying the full range of Aveda products.

Can you describe the décor?
Throughout the salon, wall coverings are a mix of tiles, finely textured wallpaper and paint, chosen to suit an area's functionality. Colour-wise, the shades mirror the natural world and reflect the Sally Adams brand - warm greys, soft silvers and taupe.

Tell us about the styling stations.
There are 14 stations in total, constructed using a mix of hard woods with rolled steel for the mirror supports and door furniture.
