Over the past decade, Safy B’s has become one of Buckinghamshire’s prime destination for hair creativity, widely recognised for their vivid colour transformations
Fifteen years ago, Safy Burton relocated to the south from the Lake District, where she built her career, grew a loyal clientele, and became increasingly known for her colour work and transformations.
Safy had never considered opening her own salon, but when a premises unexpectedly became available in Aylesbury, everything changed. “We viewed the space on a Friday, signed the lease the following Tuesday, and two weeks later, we were open," she recalls.
In the early years, Safy worked largely alone, occasionally supported by a part-time stylist. Later, the business evolved into a self-employed model, before eventually becoming the employed team structure that it is today.
From the very beginning, Safy B’s wanted to establish a different approach to traditional salons. “Clients are encouraged to feel comfortable, relaxed, and completely themselves. Whether someone arrives fully glam or wearing pyjamas, the team believes great hair should never come with intimidation,” says Safy. This honesty and authenticity naturally built a loyal following through word of mouth, reputation, and community connection.
Safy B’s is now recognised for pushing creative colour work, vivid transformations, editorial styling, and artistic collections. The salon has earned multiple industry accolades over the years and has become particularly respected for its colour expertise and creative direction, while Safy herself has won awards for colour and extensions.
Like many independent businesses, the salon faced enormous challenges during the pandemic. But rather than slowing the brand down, it became a period of reflection and reinvention; the time allowed Safy to reassess the business, strengthen the salon identity, and focus on building not just a successful salon, but the right salon.
Today, Safy B’s is known throughout Aylesbury and the wider industry not just as a vibrant, modern salon specialising in creative colour, cutting, restyling, and transformations, but as an environment which has been built on personality, inclusivity, and community.
Ten years on, the business has grown from a tiny salon with no reception desk into an award-winning brand with a thriving team, national industry recognition, and a loyal client base that continues to grow year after year. But even after all those years, the heart of the salon remains the same as it was on day one: a genuine love for making people feel good.
