Robert cromeans' hairdressing career in pictures
Scottish-born Robert Cromeans has taken the hairdressing world by storm. Based in America, he is the owner of über-successful salons in California, Nevada and Oklahoma, where his business acumen is second to none and is admired as much as his creativity.
While he is a household name in America, in the UK he is best known for his imaginative shows at the Alternative Hair Show where, over the years, he has wowed capacity crowds with his avant-garde work and dynamic presentations.
Today, he travels the world as an ambassador for Paul Mitchell and has been voted behindthechair.com's Stylist Choice Awards Platform Artist of the Year a record seven times. Now, audiences in the UK will be treated to a spectacular show at Salon International.
Here he reveals the story behind some of his most popular images. Click on an image to see it in all its glory.

Spring 2003
"The inspiration behind these looks was all about getting ready for the Spring season, having fun and being sexy. John Paul Systems was running a competition for salons in the US to win the Vespa so it was a lot of fun to work on this as we knew it would attract a lot of attention."
Fall 2009
"This image is from our 6 Figures DVD collection. The shoot involved all the Paul Mitchell artistic directors so was a lot of fun to create. Model Brandice was on set to create a shot with the guys, but I ended up creating this sharp, sexy little bob on her with clippers and she ended up stealing the show."

"This is from the collection we used to launch the Inkworks temporary colour line. The models were brilliant as they allowed us complete creative freedom with their hair so we could create timeless images."
October 2009
"This is one of my gorgeous models from the first ever Paul Mitchell The Gathering in the UK. Being onstage in the UK was a kind of homecoming for me, and is something I have wanted to achieve for many years. I'm really looking forward to demonstrating my latest collection and techniques at Salon International this year."
February 2010
"I was truly honoured to receive the Icon Award at the National Cosmetology Association's Legends and Icons charity gala. It means a lot to be recognised by the professional beauty industry for doing what I love."
