Novo Cabelo founder Rob Wood has launched CABELO: The Root of It All, a podcast exploring the people, experiences and decisions behind careers and businesses, both within the hair industry and beyond
Bringing together hair professionals, entrepreneurs, clients and guests from different backgrounds, the series opens up conversations about professional challenges, personal experiences and what success looks like. For hairdressers, barbers and salon owners, the podcast offers an opportunity to hear from people navigating familiar questions: how to build confidence, develop a career, support others and take the next step in business.
The opening episode turns the tables on Rob, with Novo Cabelo’s Head of Barbering, Cliff, taking the interviewer’s seat. Together, they explore Rob’s background, the experiences that shaped him and the journey behind Novo Cabelo, including the challenges of building the business and his ambitions for its future.
Another episode features Vikki Harrison-Smith, founder of SB Barbering Academy, who reflects on more than 30 years in barbering. From her beginnings as an apprentice to establishing her own academy, the discussion covers education, mentoring and the relationship between professional skills and personal confidence.
The podcast builds on Rob’s work using storytelling to encourage more open conversations about hair loss and hair replacement. Through Novo Cabelo’s client transformations and professional education, he has championed greater understanding of the emotional experience behind the service, alongside the technical skills involved.
Rob Wood, founder of Novo Cabelo said: “Some of the most useful conversations happen when people stop presenting the polished version and talk honestly about how they got there. I wanted to create a space for those stories, whether that means changing careers, building a business, finding confidence or learning from something that didn’t go to plan.
“Hair brings us into contact with people from every walk of life. The podcast gives us time to explore those experiences properly, and hopefully share something that helps someone else in their own career or life.”
