Velaterapia - the art of cutting hair with a flame - is coming to the UK, thanks to the Richard Ward Candle Clinic. Celebrity hairdresser Richard Ward has introduced the service to his Sloane Square salon, hot on the heels of Victoria’s Secret supermodels such as Alessandra Ambrosio and Isabeli Fontana admitting they favour the ancient Brazilian technique. Velaterapia – or candle cutting – uses an open flame to cauterize aged, split ends and deliver healthy results. It is particularly popular with those with long hair who want to maintain length but keep hair healthy at the same time. Richard Ward Hair & Metrospa is currently the only salon in London to offer the service. Candle cutting expert at the salon, Nando Lopes, has undergone specialist training and works with precision and attention to detail, section by section, to regenerate long hair.
