For the second year running, the winner of the
Good Salon Guide's Nation’s Favourite Hairdresser comes from Wales.
Rhys Andrews of Rhys Andrews Salon in Commercial Street, Griffithstown near Pontypool, was the resounding winner in the 2019 hair competition.
Last year’s winner, Kelly Shone-Adams of Technocracy Hair, hailed from Neath, Wales.

This year over 7,000 votes were cast in the competition. Second place went to Darrel Starkey-Gettings of Taylors Hair Studio in Skegness, and Rachel Evans of Squires Hair Designers in Burry Port, Wales, came in third.
When asked why they loved Rhys, his devoted clients said he always listened, was great to be around and visiting the salon was an absolute highlight of their week. Rhys was beyond thrilled with his win and was left almost speechless when a team from Good Salon Guide surprised him at his salon to present him with his trophy and prizes.
He said, “While I mentioned the competition to my clients, I had no idea they would cast so many votes and I am touched that they love me, the team and what we have created.
He continued “I’m also immensely proud that, for the second year running, this award has gone to a Welsh hairdresser. Kelly was an amazing ambassador for both Good Salon Guide and hairdressing in Wales and I will continue to promote the outstanding styling industry that we have.”
Gareth Penn, Managing Director of Good Salon Guide, has been thrilled that members have embraced the competition in such a major way.
Gareth said, “The search for the Nation’s Favourite Hairdresser has ignited a real passion among our members and their clients and, with this in mind, we now have plans to hold a similar competition for both our barber members and beauty salon members in 2020!”
