On Monday 22 August, Sadler’s Wells, central London, provided a stunning backdrop for the UK launch of hair care brand, R+Co.
Opened by distributor Creative Culture Brands managing director, Alastair J Gourley, the launch brought together many leading professionals from salons all over the UK.
The evening kicked off with an inspirational presentation projected onto the theatre’s impressive studio screen, designed to capture the audience’s imagination and showing how significant a brand can be, and what it can do for the industry.
Available to professional salons for the first time, R+Co’s co-founder and creative director Howard McLaren held court as he created ‘characters’ for the evening’s five models, crafting cuts utilising his renown razor cutting technique with complete articulation while narrating the evening with his inimitable humour.
Enlisting the help of a small team from the R+Co UK network, Jason Hall of Jason Hall Hairdressing, Julie Church at Gatsby & Miller and Dan Humphriss from Nicola Smyth Award Winning Hair.
Speaking to Hji after the event, Howard said: “We want UK salons to get involved with the brand, we want to motivate them to look again at their own brand. Salon owners need to stop looking at the competition down the street and look at their own salon. They need to think again about how they can re-engage with the consumer and bring them into their world. A lot of salons stock brands that don’t necessarily relate to the people inside. Products for us are about being professional, about the whole service.”
