Quick-thinking salon owners work through power cut

Fifty 50 Hair in York managed to work through a major city-wide power cut thanks to the quick thinking of salon director, Jane Davies.
Jane was in the middle of a gent's haircut when the entire salon was plunged into darkness thanks to a power cut throughout the city centre.
Unwilling to leave a client with a half-finished style Jane asked two assistants - Lori Yorke and Sam Greenwood - to hold their iPhones on either side, using an LED torch app to provide illumination.
The lights offer a very white, bright light so were perfect for the job - and the batteries lasted for the twenty minutes needed to complete the cut.
Jane said: "Bizarrely, it was one of the best cuts I've done in weeks - there's nothing like a little challenge to spur us on."
