Powerful 1920s woman was inspiration at nahm
A graceful yet powerful woman of the 1920's was the theme for the NAHM Autumn/Winter show - and Jon Reyman for Aveda wanted something that harked back to the decade. "The look is designed after Diana Vreeland, a noted figure in the worlds of fashion and art - and style advisor to First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy. Ms. Vreeland is the epitome of feminine strength and distinction. Nary and Ally came to us with an image of a blow-back bob . They wanted the look to appear short, matte and smooth with a clean, graphic shape. Ali and Nary really wanted the women to look powerful. We translated that idea to a strong, modern, bold look."
Here's now to get the look:
1 Starting at the nape, spray roots with Aveda Volumizing Tonic, then blow-dry with a round brush.
2 Starting at the nape, wrap six horizontal sections around the barrel of a 1in curling iron. Repeat this moving up the back of the head.
3 Brush the hair with a Mason Pearson and create a triangle part at the hairline, from temples to the crown, separating the top section of hair.
4 Take a small section of hair above each ear and clip away. Make a horizontal part at the back of the head to separate the remaining hair into two.
5 Unpin hair from above the ears, bring underneath the back sections and tie in a low ponytail at the nape.
6 Add the bottom lower horizontal section to the ponytail.
7 use fingers to roll the tail into a horizontal roll at the nape, tuck under and pin.
8 Split the centre of thet remaining hair down the centre to create a part down the back of the head. Wrap each section into the existing roll, tuck under and pin.
9 Release the top triangular section and smooth over the entire look, pinning the ends underneath. Finish with a light mist of Control Force for hold and a matte finish.
