Plaits, braids and ponies: the trending ss20 styles The trending hairstyles from SS20 are plaits, braids and ponytails as the styles are a hit across all the fashion cities. The styles create a sense of nostalgia, presenting a youthful and fresh look down many runways during Fashion Week. While the style may look simple to do, a lot of patience, effort and inspiration went into perfecting this style. Erdem
This look was created by lead stylist, Anthony Turner for L’Oréal Professionnel at Erdem SS20 at London Fashion Week. This classy long platt styled sleek and straight, tied off with a soft black bow can be worn to during office hours for an everyday hairstyle, catching drinks or going out-out on the weekend with friends. “It’s a quintessential Erdem look. It feels quite tough because of the strict centre parting and tight braid, but the big bow softens the look and makes it feel romantic,” says Anthony. The apparent muse for this sophisticated style was Tina Modotti, a jumpsuit-wearing silent movie star and photographer from Italy in the 1920s.

This look designed by Tina Outen for L’Oréal Professionnel, at Bora Asku's SS20 show at London Fashion Week. The style was influence by the feminist icon Frida Kahlo. She said,"I leave you my portrait so that you will have my presence all the days and nights that I am away from you", it seems that she is still a never ending inspiration in the art and fashion industry, never leaving the minds of stylists and creators. The loose skinny braids present a youthful hue, both messy and creative. The trending updo hairstyle from SS20 Fashion Week is full of platts, braids and ponytails.
Prada This look was created by Redken's global creative director Guido Palau at Prada’s SS20 Milan's Fashion Week MFW Show. The ponytail style is a timeless runway staple style. “There’s a nod to the 20s and to the bourgeoisie this season at Prada. However, there’s still a bit of strangeness to the look with a contemporary spin, which is classic Prada. I’ve added in little sideburns on each girl that add a touch of boyishness", says Guido Palau. While the model's who strutted down the catwalk were all female, as Palau said, the look adopts an androgynous image to be worn by both men and women alike.
