Performing at the royal opera house!
It's been another manic few weeks for me - I've been up to all kinds of mischief. I've been on tour with Redken, for their annual Redken Connects. It's a series of education showcases around the UK and Ireland - there's one in Dublin, Manchester, Cardiff and London.
The London one was incredible and was held in the Royal Opera House. Who ever thought when I started out in hairdressing that I would one day perform at the Royal Opera House!
Each day on the tour involved working with the Brand Colour Director, A J Blackadder, presenting colour and styling in an interpretation of the season. We worked on a palate of block blondes, each one with a signiature colour technique that was designed to be really quick for stylists to use in the salon. Each look had a blonde background, but everything was inspired by pastel, lollipop colours.
I also worked on a trends forecast for the season, for which we had three looks: a disco diva Studio 54 look that has a nod to Jerry Hall; a graphic, minimalist hair-up dressed very close to the head to look cropped, with an asymmetric panel through the front; and a very bohemian, prairie girl influenced look focusing on plaits. These were all created using Redken products and Babyliss styling tools.
Tonight I am presenting a lifetime achievement award to Vidal Sassoon, after a private screening of his movie. It's on behalf of the Hairdressing Council, of which I am an ambassador. It's such an honour for me. When they asked if I would do it, I said "Are you for real?!". I am very excited.
