Clients requesting an elegant party look will be thrilled with this soft and feminine updo.

British Hairdresser of the Year 2011 nominee Mark Leeson helps you to recreate the look in six simple steps.

  1. Prep the hair with a texturising product to give it some bulk, then create a side parting and leave the fringe out.
  2. With the rest of the hair, create one high ponytail at the back, leaving about a third of the front section out.
  3. Secure the ponytail, and with the remaining hair on top, backcomb it with hairspray.
  4. Next, loosely take a section on each side of the remaining hair, smooth it over, and secure under the ponytail, so the join is hidden and covered by the hair in the ponytail.
  5. With the remaining top section, place it over the top and let it cover the whole ponytail. A couple of pins will secure it, and lots ot hairspray will finish it off.
