Paul Mitchell Editorial Director Lucie Doughty and a team of
Paul Mitchell The School Future Professionals and graduate stylists created rockin’ hair at the Grammy Salute to Fashion.
The event, which was hosted by four-time Grammy-winning producer and Recording Academy Chair Jimmy Jam, blurs the boundaries of the fashion and music industries.
It showcased spring 08 collections from hot musical talents-turned-designers, including Beyonce’s House of Dereon, Rocawear by Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake’s William Rast and Jennifer Lopez J-Lo.
Doughty created a casual spring-y twist to complement the stylish vision of InStyle Fashion Director Hal Rubenstein.
"We were asked to create a streamline 80s feel to the hair with the use of products and the addition of extensions, mimicking the fun, carefree rock star-feel that the clothes have," says Doughty.
"A total of 30 models were prepped by an amazing team of 15 stylists made up of Future Professionals, school owners, associates and salon stylists.
"There was a great vibe in tent as everyone hustled to get the models ready."
Grammy winner Rihanna, who performed at the Salute to Fashion, says: "As a musician, you’re in the spotlight and want to make sure you always look your best. That’s where fashion comes in."
