Paul mitchell offers covid-19 support system to salons in need Paul Mitchell was meant to be celebrating their 40th anniversary this year with a huge bash in Las Vegas, but sadly due to coronavirus this had to be suspended. However, despite a pandemic thwarting big celebrations, the brand who self-professes to put ‘people before profit’ has shown its true colours with an amazing initiative – their very own COVID-19 Support System. Paul Mitchell has rolled out a relief program for salons and stylists affected by COVID-19. The JPMS Salon Jumpstart Stimulus Plan includes enhanced education, digital support, and more. The brand is also partnering with its loyal salons and distributor partners to help rebuild cashflow reserves to aid its partners back into business as quickly as possible. Paul Mitchell has a long heritage of philanthropy and community engagement and they recognised the need to help and immediately mobilised their manufacturing facilities to make hand sanitiser back in April. They were donated to high-need groups who faced shortages, such as Southern California first responders, Los Angeles police officers, and low-income families with young children. During a press event, conducted over Zoom, with co-owners John Paul Dejoria and Angus Mitchell, as well as vice chairman Michaeline DeJoria Heydari, the brand told us all about life for the brand during the pandemic. Michaeline says: ‘More than ever people are realising the magic of the hairstylist and the power of take-home products. We have to adapt now to be as convenient as possible for customers.’ Meanwhile Angus talked about how education might change post-pandemic: ‘I’m so proud of our Paul Mitchell Schools and how they’ve responded. There’s still lots to learn about distance learning.’
