On the road with redken

Andrew-Barton-Redken.jpgIt's been a busy couple of weeks on the road with Redken. It was my first tour with them so it was nice to meet lots of new people and have an opportunity to share my fashion direction with Redken hairdressers around the country.

Unfortunately, we were sabotaged by the ash cloud, which meant we had to postpone the Ireland show. That was such a shame because I was really looking forward to catching up with some of my hairdresser friends in Ireland and putting on a show.

I think we are going to be going later in the year now, so I'll look forward to that.  Despite the set back, we continued with vigour until we got to Scotland where we were again thwarted by volcanic ash.

We ended up having to get the sleeper train back from Scotland which wasn't something I had done before - nor something I'll rush to do again!

The shows were a sell out and a huge success and it was nice to get closer to the other Redken artists Lee Stafford, Chris Moody and Billie Crago.

Redken_Connects_London.jpgChris and I were apprentices together when we were first starting out and his mum taught us both and Redken were the first products I worked with so it felt a bit like I'd gone full circle.

On stage, Billie and I worked on a fashion edit of the key catwalk looks. We presented models live on stage, showcasing colour, shape, texture and product innovation.

The two looks we did were dreadlock rasta, a bohemian blonde; and vintage chic, which showed off the reds and coppers that Redken are particularly brilliant at.

The tour was also the regional finals of the NYC Hair Awards and I am deelighted to say that team Andrew Barton have two people through to the Tribe.

Jason and Lisa have got through to the final of the Men's Award and Tracey and Matt are in the Style Innovation competition so good lucKk to both of them in September.
