I've been touring the UK with Kerastase this week. I've been to Birmingham, Manchester, Dublin, Edinburgh and London.

The focus of the tour has been sharing my inspirations, and the story of how I built my career, with other hairdressers - particularly younger hairdressers. I tried to give the audiences an insight into how I've gone from a small northern hair salon to where I am now.

I've enjoyed the experience. I've tried to be very honest and down-to-earth I didn't want to teach, I just wanted to share my experiences.

I also cut some hair and talked about current trends and how to use Kerastase products to create them.

Some of the younger hairdressers have only been in the industry a couple of years and many of them are unaware of all the different elements of hairdressing. I'm not necessarily trying to sell them a career as a session stylist, but how they can get the most from their client and enjoy their work as much as possible.

I'm hoping the sessions will be inspirational. I have a good head start, as they know me from the TV and see that as inspirational and aspirational in itself.

Talking of TV, the first episode of the new series of 10 Years Younger was screened this week and the phone has been ringing off the hook with hairdressers saying how much they liked it and what a good advert it is for the hairdressing industry.

Today (Friday) I am in the salon. This is the highlight of my week. I love all the other aspects of my job, but I enjoy the one-to-one aspect of looking after a client in the salon - and I'm addicted to the smile you get from making someone happy.
