Talentspotting Semi-Finalists
An ecstatic Olive Tucker from the House of Colour in Dublin was named
L'Oréal Talentspotting winner after a tense and exciting Grand Final at the Dorchester Hotel, London.
The six finalists each had 15 minutes to present their moodboards, which were inspired by everything from
corrosion to
Cirque de burlesque, to the full-house crowd.
They then had to fend off questions about their theme, inspiration and presentation from the judging panel of
Carolyn Newman from Charles Worthington,
Sally Brooks from Brooks and Brooks,
Trevor Sorbie and Fellowship president Sean Dawson. Each of the finalists blew the judges away with their confidence, research and presentation skills, but after much deliberation Olive's
'Hair Heroes' presentation, which Trevor Sorbie described as "bold, strong and uncompromising" won through.
Her models, whose looks varied from flowing red locks with the back shaved for a night time party look, to an on-trend blonde crop, were all finished with her own customised 'bar-coding' colouring technique to make them unique.
Speaking about her collection, Olive says: "Anyone can be a hair hero with the right cutting and colour technique".
She added: "It is an absolute dream come true to have won Talentspotting! The year ahead is packed full of amazing opportunities that will develop my creativity and take my career to the next level."
Olive's prize for winning the prestigious award includes an array of sought-after opportunities, including a place on the 2008 L'Oréal Professionnel iD Artist Programme, £1000 worth of education courses at the L'Oréal International Academy and her own photoshoot.
Jodie Jay Quinn from
Gentry Hair Salon, who was commended for her 'damn slick' presentation of
futuristic couture meets French chic, was runner-up.
Announcing the winners, L'Oréal Professionel General Manager Alan Richardson, said there was nothing to choose between the finalists and added: "the future of the industry from a creative, technical and pure flair perspective is in very safe hands."
