Off to the house of commons

Dilemma of the day: what do you wear for lunch at the House of Commons?
It took me long enough to grasp what suitable attire for hairdressing events is - look like you've made an effort, but never too much effort and if in doubt go for black! - but throw lunch at parliament into the mix and it's thrown me!
Anyway after much deliberation I've opted for a rather conservative Emerald green shirt dress - accessorised with killer heels of course!
I'll let you know if it's suitable for some of hairdressing's biggest names who are on the guest list for the Hairdressing Council lunch.
On the agenda is, of course, the issue of state registration, which seems to have divided the industry.
We get quite a lot of comments on articles and the forum that are horrified that there's no state register for people who ply their trade with sharp scissors and complex chemicals and in other industries registration is the norm.
When I used to teach aerobics classes way back when, it was very much the norm to be registered and then you had to take x courses a year to stay on the register.
But in these days of deregulation, it is harder to see a change of legislation and some form of self regulation brought about by the industry itself seems like a much more likely proposition.
