Today was all about the 12 finalists in the Matrix Destination Fame competition at the company's HQ in Hammersmith, London. With hairdressers competing from around the UK - all at varying stages of their career - they each showcased their cutting, colouring and finishing skills to present forward thinking, trend-led models that demonstrated their skills brilliantly.
From short blonde crops to long, straight glossy copper and with everything in between, difficult decisions had to be made by the judges who included Anne Veck, Errol Douglas and Terry Longden. The cut, colour, finish and presentation (each had to make a five minute presentation to the judging panel outlining their concept, techniques and inspiration) was all taken into consideration when marking the finalists.
Having been honoured to judge the competition for a number of years, 2013 saw the standard improve again and the presentations were exceptional, with mood boards shown and created in a variety of ways to really demonstrate where and how the inspiration had been garnered.

Huge congratulations to all the finalists and a special mention to the three winners - Jonathan Turner from Hooker & Young, Christina Roberts from KAM Hair & Body Spa and Rick Roberts from his eponymously named salon - who will now enjoy as part of their prize, mentoring from the Matrix Artistic Team, PR, marketing support and a photo shoot.
