Nick arrojo presents at the goldwell academy in london

Celebrity hairdresser Nick Arrojo recently hosted an up-close-and-personal evening with Goldwell at their London academy. Nick talked about his rise from Manchester stylist to owner of a super-salon in the Soho neighbourhood of New York, employing 125 people - "I left England with $1500 and a dream," he said. He's also a celebrity favourite and is famous in the States for his television work which includes seven years on What Not to Wear. Along with stylists from the salon, including his wife, Lina, Nick demonstrated several techniques to the London crowd including the art of razor cutting, creating five hair looks complete with stunning colour. On his famous razor cutting technique Nick said: "The razor is my signature – my philosophy is 'have a signature, but be great at everything.'" He also added that he liked to brand his stylists to market them in a competitive industry, explaining: "If one of the stylists creates a new technique, we brand it and make it exclusive to our salon." Following on from the evening, Goldwell stylists also had the opportunity to enjoy two days of education with the Arrojo team, covering cutting, colouring and client care.
