New york fashion week spring/summer 2013: laura siegel

Heath Grout created woven braids for the Laura Siegel Spring/Summer 2013 show at New York Fashion Week.
Show: Laura Siegel
Stylist: Heath Grout for TIGI
The inspiration: Artisans in Asia and Latin America. "To complement the collection, I infused Siegel's design elements - embossing, braiding and tie-dying - into a web of intertwined plaits reflective of Siegel's garments," said Heath.
The look: Rough, textured, non-traditional woven braids with splashes of colour.
Get the look: Prep severely side-parted hair with Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Salt Spray and Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Transforming Dry Shampoo to achieve a really dry, rough texture.
Randomly divide the hair into five or six different sections depending on hair density.
For each section, separate hair into three uneven pieces - spraying one piece with a temporary fluorescent hair colour of your choice - and continue to braid. Each braid should vary in width and texture - the key to this look is to not be too perfect.
Using the Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Transforming Dry Shampoo, use your fingers to further rough up the ends of each braid.
Next, snake each braid in different directions around the head and secure in place with pins Finish the look by spraying Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Work It Hairspray for hold.
