Nick Irwin created structured graphic knots for the Ann Yee Spring/Summer 2013 show at New York Fashion Week.

Show: Ann Yee

Stylist: Nick Irwin for TIGI

The inspiration: Old, faded and frayed sea ropes and nets manipulated by the weather. "To work with the aqueous theme of Ann's collection, I created a glossy, defined knot, with a wet finish," said Nick. "It suggests that the girls just emerged from underneath the water."

The look: A structured, wet-look, graphic knot.

Get the look: Section hair on top of the head into a V-shape from the hairline to the crown.

Use Catwalk by TIGI Sleek Mystique Look-Lock Hairspray to keep the division clean and enhance shine at the roots.

Secure both the top and bottom sections into two separate ponytails using elastic ties. Twist the two ponytails together and bring the combined ponytail up to the V-shaped point at the back of the head.

Coil into a knot and secure with an elastic or tie, spraying with Catwalk by TIGI Your Highness Weightless Shine Spray for added sheen.

Smooth Catwalk by TIGI Session Series True Wax throughout the hair to achieve a glossy finish.
