Neo-gothic meets classic elegance at hair directory in inverness
When Linda and Kevin Deck decided to create their ideal salon, they opted to rent space in a Victorian mansion house, which needed complete renovation - and was protected by Historic Scotland.
The salon occupies two rooms in the house, both bathed in natural sunlight. The overall look is designed to be classic and sympathetic to the historic building, but with a bold, modern twist.
Oversized ornate mirrors offer a nod to the past, but with a fun, modern feel and styling chairs covered in gold fabric add to the contemporary/classic combination.
Possibly the design's most striking features are those that are inherent to the neo-Gothic architecture of the building - original, ornate ceiling details have been retained throughout, for example, and the exterior is like something from a Dickens fantasy. For Linda and Kevin, Hair Directory is certainly a fantasy come true.
