National Blow Dry Day will take place on Monday 28 July, with the aim of raising cash for cancer and teaching clients how to make their hair look great at home.
Says
HJ's British Hairdresser of the Year nominee, Mark Leeson: "National Blow Dry Day is a great idea for promoting our professional skills and sharing our expertise with consumers, whilst raising money for a great cause – Macmillan. Personally I want my clients to look incredible all of the time and not just the days when they leave the salon, so giving them blow dry tips and techniques is all part of the service."
There are loads of great ways to get involved in this worthwhile cause, raising your salon profile and plenty of cash for Macmillan cancer at the same time. Here are just eight great ideas - find out more on
the National Blow Dry Day site!
1. Give a free blow-dry with every appointment in exchange for a donation to Macmillan;
2. Bring colour to every blow-dry you do with a temporary
hair chalk or
spray-on shade;
3. Host a blow-dry masterclass for your clients, complete with drinks and snacks - no-one's leaving until they can complete a perfect blow-dry on themselves, in exchange for a charity donation of course;
4. Introduce a menu of iconic blow-dries for the day - from
the Farrah to
the Bardot;
5. Set up a blow-dry booth so clients can snap a selfie after their new day to share with their friends;
6. Now could be the time to introduce a blow-dry bar! Set up a station at the front of the salon offering quick transformations - no cut, no colour, just styling.
7. Package blow-to-go products for a quick retail win - bundle up your fave blow-dry products including brushes and clips to promote to clients post blow-dry;
8. Give clients a blow-by-blow account! Film yourself doing their blow-dry using an iPad or smartphone, talk through the products you're using, tools you're using and steps you're taking. Once you're done, email it to them as a personalised masterclass from their favourite stylist. Definitely worthy of a charity donation!
