Six talented hairdressers recently competed in the Mizani Afro Catwalk Look Award, putting their creative talent to the test at The L'Oréal Academy in London.

The super six were selected from the photographic entries and asked to recreate their look live in front of a prestigious panel of judges.

Teams competing came from the following salons: Anne Veck, Oxford; Clipso, Watford; Cutting Room Creative, Chapel Allerton, Leeds; seanhanna, Sutton, Surry; Toni & Guy, Regent Street, London; and Cutting Room Creative, Albion Street, Leeds.

Each salon was asked to create a look on a model of African/Caribbean decent that captured a key Autumn/Winter 2012 catwalk trend, in two and a half hours.

The acclaimed panel of judges included session stylist Eugene Davis; and 2009 Mizani Afro Catwalk Award winner Craig Chapman.

Craig said: "It's exciting to see so many salons pushing the boundaries and changing the perception of Afro hair - the standard this year has been truly fantastic."

The winner of the Award will announced at the L'Oreal Colour Trophy on Monday 28 May.
