Hairdressers rubbed shoulders with celebrities last night at the exclusive private view of the Hare Styling exhibition, held in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Organised by Michael Van Clarke, the latest charity venture is part of the wider HAIRraising appeal which has seen some of the biggest names in hairdressing come together to raise over £500,000 to date.

Michael's daughter Angelica, now 15, had a life-saving operation at Great Ormond Street Hospital when she was two days old. Inspired by a picture of a hare which Angelica drew, the Hare Styling initiative saw the image reproduced on canvas and sent to well-known names to customise.

Over 200 celebrities, artists and hairdressers have cut, coloured and styled their 'hare' and the original works of art are now on display at the Heartbreak Gallery in London (and online). The canvases will be auctioned off for charity in May at the star-studded Hare Ball at the Dorchester, Park Lane and online.

Work from hairdressers including Errol Douglas, Lee Stafford, John Frieda, Nicky Clarke, Richard Ward, Andrew Collinge, Andrew Barton, Charles Worthington, Tony Rizzo sits comfortably alongside work from established artists and celebrities including Cheryl Cole and Stella McCartney, revealing some serious artistic talent amongst the industry's biggest names!

Commenting on Hare Styling, Michael says: "The pioneering work carried out at Great Ormond Street Hospital provides hope to extremely sick children and their families. My family knows first-hand the incredible difference the hospital can make and I am always looking for ways to show my gratitude."

"We have been overwhelmed by the response from the recipients of the canvases and the fundraising potential is huge. We are so grateful for the time and effort people have put in to creating them and we are also looking forward to handing over a big cheque to the charity once all the canvases have been sold."

The HARE Styling Exhibition is on until Sunday 8 May at Heartbreak Gallery, 17 Bulstrode Street, London W1U 2JH. Admission is free.
