Five Michael Van Clarke apprentice students at
the academy in London battled it out this week in an in-salon styling competition, judged by a panel of industry experts.
Each of the trainee hairdressers was tasked with creating a celebrity-inspired style of their choice, which they then presented in front of photographer Peter Clark, industry expert Ayo Laguda and Wella Professionals' Kelly Whelan.
Scooping the top spot was 17-year-old Michael Van Clarke apprentice Summer Langton - a former nominee for
Junior of the Year at HJ's British Hairdressing Business Awards - who wowed the judges with elegant 1930s waves.
Operations director Russell McGrath commented: "These soirées are key in the development of the salon and our team. A time to bond, have fun and learn new techniques is crucial in the growth of the Michael Van Clarke brand. Presentations by our up and coming apprentices are a fitting way to finish the year and I was left speechless by their level of skill, vision and attention to detail."
