Melissa timperley named project x student of the year 2014 Melissa Timperly Named Project X Student of the Year 2014 Melissa Timperley from Sassoon in Manchester was named Umberto Giannini Project X Student of the Year at this year's Fellowship Luncheon and Awards, which was hosted at The Dorchester Hotel. All of the Project X students were assessed over their twelve-month programme, with marks given for presentation skills, styling talent, creativity, team work and time keeping. Melissa topped the list, followed by Vicky Stephens from Tops Hair Salon in Melksham and Jonny Eagland from Billi Currie in London. Melissa said: "My year on Project X has been both inspirational and educational. It has introduced me to a whole new side of our wonderful industry. Each month, a different mentor has taught us a new skill. We have learned things like wig cutting, session styling, photoshoots and even how to present ourselves on stage. Working with industry experts and other creative people has been a fantastic, life-changing experience and one I would highly recommend. Thanks to Debbie G for being such an inspirational mentor to us all and all the fabulous friends I've made along the way!" Project X mentor Debbie G added: "The quality of the Project X students was higher than ever before this year. But despite all the amazing talent, Melissa managed to shine even brighter. She will go far - a genuine rising star!" The new 2015 Project X students will begin their year of mentoring at 'hairdressing’s finest finishing school' in January, with Ashleigh Hodges taking over as Project X leader.
