More than 2,000 hairdressers across 10 UK cities came together to enjoy the Matrix Access All Areas tour which ran between April and June 2014. Music provided the creative theme for each evening with live stage work spanning the most influential genres including punk to R’n’B, pop and indie, while audience participation was encouraged with a #matrixselfie Twitter competition. The Matrix Spring/Summer Access All Areas tour promised salon teams a high-energy night out and amazing hair in an immersive evening of artistry and colour inspiration, empowered by music. Ambassadors Hooker & Young, Jamie Stevens, Paul Falltrick, Sharon Peake, Alexander Turnbull, Kieran O’Gorman, Marcus King, Anne Veck and Ross Taylor were enlisted to present across the 10-date tour. A refreshingly informal stage vibe ensured the pace of the evening was upbeat and interactive.” “I was so happy when I received the brief for Access All Areas as music is such an influential part of my life,” explains global artist Paul Falltrick. “When creating looks for the show, I spent time playing with the different genres and reinventing old techniques with a modern twist. punk is my favourite genre anyway so it was fun to carry through elements of rebellion in a bit more of a controlled manner.” Winners of Matrix Destination Fame Jonathan Turner from Hooker & Young and Rick Roberts from Rick Roberts Hairdressing also made guest appearances, working alongside their mentors and encouraging the audience to get involved with the 2014 competition. From micro-crimping to huge Madame De Pompidour inspired up-dos, razor sharp perimeters to loose undone waves, the crowd were given a masterclass in creative yet commercially grounded looks using new Colorgraphics Lacquers. “It was amazing to see the crowd respond so positively to the informal atmosphere and massively compelling creative theme of the evening,” said Matrix global artist Jamie Stevens. “These shows were high energy from the moment the models arrived to the end of the evening when the crowd cheered us off stage.
